Hi,

I finished the game a few weeks ago and the first Monster I ever "met" was the invisible ghost thingy, at least I think it was the first.

Now I am on my 2nd playthrough, just visited the secret room in the archives and thought I can run around a little because there is no monster for a while, just noises and stuff and suddenly when I'm in the room where you have to break the window a monster appears right behind me...

Well, didn't try to run, just took the cowards way out, Esc and End game ^^ but my question is, why is there a monster when there wasn't in the first playthrough? Are they planted randomly in some way or is there always one at this point and I just missed it the first time?
Well i had a short glance on a grunt there, too! I finished everything you need to do and noticed the piano play you are hearing at some points.. and i was just curious and followed the sound "someone must be there, pianos don't play on their own!". When i entered the Window Gallery (the long room with the big windows and high ceiling) i just saw him wandering away from the Piano into the corridor leading to the exit of the Archives. Man i was so scared to go there and leave Big Grin but he was gone after that short encounter.

Maybe you disturbed one of his music-sessions, too Tongue
Oh, I never saw that one...
I thought that the piano was just part of my insanity going low. Tongue
I think monster spawning is a little randomized. I know if you die the enemy locations change, may be the same idea with a new game.
Sorry to disappoint you, but I think you can see the things :P

^-> pure hallucination :D
so what does that screen mean? Is the monster there real? I'm too cowardly to find out myself Big Grin
That screenshot proves nothing...at all dude.
Yes it does. It proves that the monster has it's "hallucination" flag ticked, thus will disappear when it gets too near to the player, thus it's not a real encounter. Big Grin

OHHH! I see. Thanks for clarifying!
In the end, that makes my comment to be "right". Tongue
