I have recently got the game and I will go over every detail here.
I have a Dell Inspiron 15R with Integrated and Dedicated graphics (AMD Radeon HD 6470M) and it will play ingame but a black screen is there. When I try to launch it, it will read the integrated graphics and not the dedicated one, and I have tried to disable the integrated, but my laptop gets messy and also disables the dedicated graphics as well. Is there any way I can change the launcher or something to read the dedicated graphics and actually play? I have gotten this game and just waited for my new laptop to come in just so I can play this but now that it will not because of this glitch, I'm very upset...any help will be greatly appreciated because I love this game

Also download and install the latest amd graphics driver for your operating system which should be Windows 7 x64:

Well I had gone away for a while but now I am attempting it with the updated CCC download...in a few minutes I will return to post my results...
ok, let's see if this will work - it usually does. Those black screen problems are most of the times graphics related.

I'm sorry, but it isn't working, I'm getting the mobilty modifier to check if I can create a new driver to choose the right card...
I think your gpu is intel, not amd after seeing the specs of your laptop

I'm sure it's AMD, because my Inspiron 15R has two graphics cards for use, integrated and dedicated, and the dedicated is the AMD Radeon HD 6470M card...and it's not the driver that's the problem, its the fact that its reading the integrated graphics, the Mobility Intel ® HD Graphics card. And I'm not sure how to make it choose the AMD card. Btw, I'm sorry, but I'm not sure also what is a GPU...

GPU = Graphics Processing Unit = Graphics Card

OK, since your problem is making the game detect the dedicated one do this:

Integrated card interferes:

Quote:Check the hpl.log found in the the game's save directory:

Windows: "My Documents/Amnesia/"
Linux: ".frictionalgames/Amnesia/"
Mac: "Library/Application Support/Frictional Games/Amnesia/"

and see if you see something like:

"Renderer: GDI Generic
Version: 1.1.0"

If so, this means that OpenGL uses an integrated card instead of your proper graphics card. There are known ways to fix this in Windows:

1) Go into the "device manager" which is found by entering System in Control Panel and then clicking on the "Hardware". Find the display drivers and the right click on the card that is NOT your main graphics card, and choose disable. Reboot and try again.

2) Update the drivers for the integrated card. For example updating drivers for "Enhanced Display Driver Helper (ASUS Other Device)" has been reported to fix this issue.

3) Enter the control panel for the graphics card and set the proper (non-integrated) card as the preffered device to use. Here is how it looks for a user: http://frictionalgames.com/forum/thread-...l#pid34691

4) Enter Display Properties and make sure that the desktop color depth is 32.
