I'm interested about how you killed the wolves and spiders. I just bashed their head in with the pickaxe ^^
Generally speaking, I don't. For the wolves, beef jerky is so abundant that you can easily fling it in the opposite direction, then take off at a full sprint as soon as they head for it. And the spiders never once got in my way.
Yes.. you kill them with the pickaxe or the less efficient hammer. Perhaps dynamite works as well, never really tried it though.

=) I guess my topics name causes some misunderstanding. I wanted to ask how YOU kill the wolves (like what kind of tactics you use to kill 'em) and personally I just hack 'em apart with pick axe ^^
I never got close enough to kill them when it was on hard difficulty, it took only 2 hits from any enemy for you to die (Even the spider, the boulder over acid puzzle was...very....fun...)

Or throwed a gas-thingy-tank at them.
you just need to time the first swing correctly
after that you should just keep bashing it and they die

I tried using dynamite on spider eggs once and all it did was crack the eggs and have the spiders come after me instead of blow them up. I just use the pickaxe for everything. For the wolves, I jump on something (railing, box, barrel, whatever) then just aim down as they lunge at me and smack em. Barrels are the most tricky because when they run and lunge sometimes they can knock the barrel out from under you.
The spiders, I just wait til they jump at me, knock them out of the air then walk up to them and smack em on the ground until they flip over.
For the wolves: I usually dove at them with a pickaxe, but not after facing it down head-on and letting it charge at me. I got it down to the "not taking any damage" level of reaction time. My personal favorite way of killing one was throwing beef jerky, then dynamite.
As for the spiders, I just ran like hell and never even tried touching them.
Wolves with axe and spiders with ...i think i killed only one spider in a whole game, and that was also with the axe, other times i was running
