Level Creator & Tools?
Will the Mac OS X users ever get a chance to use the Level Creator and Tools?
That would be really nice if we got to have access to those as well. Smile

If not, my old Desktop running Windows XP MIGHT be able to use the Level Creator, I just can't run Amnesia: TDD on it Sad
(I really should get a gaming desktop...)

RE: Level Creator & Tools?
My hope is to get the level creator finished ported, however I am running into a rather annoying Driver bug in Mac OS X that basically makes the level editor completely useless.

Developing away on one of
Mac Pro Dual 2Ghz, 7GB RAM, Snow Leopard, nVidia 8800 512MB.
Linux, 3-core AMD, 4GB RAM, Fedora 16, nVidia 450 1GB

RE: Level Creator & Tools?
Hi there!
Im new at the forums, but after enjoying Amnesia i get some crazy ideas to give a try, and i was wondering if the editor tools are coming on the way...
For example, i thougth that a multiplayer is possible in this game, what about beeing in the prison level with other 3 or 7 guys and a servant trying to catch you? Last man standing wins! Hide on darkness or make noise near a other player to atract the atention of the servant and see how the other players are slaugthered while they scream! Sounds fun for me... Big Grin

RE: Level Creator & Tools?
There is no networking code at all in the HPL2 engine, so, unfortunately multiplayer is not an option.

As for the tools.. The linux version was release recently, however the Mac version is "stuck" due to glorious bugs in Apple's outdated OpenGL implementation (a broken OpenGL 2.1 implementation vs. the lovely OpenGL 4.1 implementation on Linux box)

So until I figure out how to either workaround the bug in Apple's OpenGL or Apple updates their OpenGL (which I soo hoped they would have done with the 10.6.5 update, but they didn't) the Mac developer tools are probably not going to make their way out the door Sad

Workaround.. You can run ALL of the developer tools inside of a windows VM in VMware fusion (probably Parallels as well). as I have tested this on Fusion 3.0 running Windows XP. It's not ideal but it works. Not sure what Vmware does that works around the issue, but they do something.

They do NOT work in wine however. Well that is not entirely correct.. they load and run in wine (ie crossover games). But since they are using the same OpenGL implementation they exhibit the same "behavior" for the "editor" tools (viewer tools work fine). This behavior is that they don't render at all unless you obscure the window (ie.. pressing F12 to have the OS X Dashboard open and then close).

Now, if anyone has an intel mac that does NOT exhibit that behavior running the HPL2 level editor via Wine I want to talk with you so I can figure this out. So far I have tested on the following cards with the same results.

Nvidia 7300
Nvidia 8800
ATI HD 2600
Nvidia 320 (mac mini)

So thats the matter. Sounds big one... Sad
I've a Mac Book Pro 3,1 with Intel Core 2 Duo at 2,2 Ghz, 2Gb Ram and Nvidia Gforce 8600M GT. Snow Leopard 10.6.5 and Paralels 4.0.
I purchased the game on steam but if there is something i can do to help, let me know. Smile

RE: Level Creator & Tools?
I do have a copy of Parallels (came free with my MacBook Pro). I just don't have a copy oh Windows OS.

I do know for a fact that it will lag though as I tested out the Windows 7 Beta in it, and the RAM is decreased by a LOT. Sad

But, I MAY be able to use the tools on my old Windows XP desktop. It isn't very good, but it MAY be able to handle a Level Editor. Smile

RE: Level Creator & Tools?
if the computer is capable of running Amnesia then it can run the level editor. The level editor itself is built out of the HPL2 engineSmile (it just uses some features not used in the game which is the cause of my pain w/ Mac OS X)
