Penumbra: Overture worked fine for me on Ubuntu 11.04, but since I upgraded to 11.10 the display is wonky. It looks like I'm getting outlines/stencils of textures rather than the textures. For example, the opening typewriting is just the occasional large square (about the size of a letter). The Frictional and Penumbra logos appear fine, but the rain over them are thick white lines. I wiped out my .frictionalgames directory and reinstalled the game, no luck. I also tried disabling compositing in the window manager, but that didn't help either.

Intel HD 2000 integrated graphics (yes, I know....). Zipped hpl.log attached.

I pulled in the xorg-edgers PPA and now things appear to work again...so probably an X or driver regression at some point.

You forgot something important.
Since you upgraded to a newer version you must also check for new drivers.
I hope this helped.

Linux works differently than Windows. Dependencies are normally resolved at installation time when installed through package managers.

Oh I'm sorry then.
