Demo works but Steam doesn’t - El Mariachi - 03-16-2012

The standalone demo runs fine on my MacBookPro3,1 (2.2GHz) and I bought the full version on Steam, but the OSX version of Steam is completely useless — I have never gotten any Mac Steam game to launch successfully. Is there a way to use the SteAmnesia product key or something to activate a non-Steam version of the full game?

What do you mean by

?

Does it say "Preparing to launch" and then doesn't run at all or does it crash?

The game's icon bounces for a while and then crashes. Steam.app itself doesn't crash. This happens with Amnesia, Aaaaa[…], Torchlight, and TF2. So yeah, a Valve problem, not a Frictional problem, but if I could run Amnesia outside of Steam that would be cool.

Try to uninstall steam completely, throw away the application and then also search the harddrive from steam and/or valve and delete any files/folders that appear to be settings and files for Steam. Then download and install a fresh copy of Steam and that usually fixes the launch issues.
