Anyone else creep themselves out during development? - FragdaddyXXL - 04-20-2012

Sometimes, I add a new monster, or a few, and I'll hesitate to test it out. I hesitate because I'm not 110% sure that I scripted and set up everything correctly.

Or sometimes the scenario you built up was just a little too scary to the creator. I usually have my friend as the guinea pig Big Grin . (I don't use developer mode). Right now, the scariest section of my story is very near completion. And I'm hesitating to try it out to see if everything is running smoothly. Undecided

P.S. This is only my second CS.

I'm currently working on my first custom story, and, yes, my scares always scare myself the first time trying them out, but after testing it for so many times I get used to it.

As a more practical example:

1st Time Testing Scare: "Gahh!! Nearly peed my pants with something I made!"
7th time Testing, and above: "Hurry up!! I've seen you work flawlessly so many times already. Just hurry up! I wanna get to the part I'm actually trying to test this time around!! "

While i was making S.C.A.R.E
I added a dog in it to run through the hallway and dissapear but when he dissapeared I went on and then I heard a grunt growl and immediatelly paused it and went out of it Sad

Not really, but it is fun to test it with other people and see how THEY react.

Haha yes, I scare myself countless times.

There is one part in my story that when you open a door wide enough, it breaks and makes a thud noise (because the door is old) and since I usually have my headphones cranked, it literally makes me pee myself a bit. The worst part is, I get so focused on testing something else that I keep forgetting about it repeatedly xD

So far I've jumped once from my own "jumpscare". When you don't know exactly where the invisible trigger area is, and the sudden boom sound is a bit louder than you expected, then...

Once I scaled the grunt down to be super tiny, and put him inside a glass display. When I loaded it to see how cute it was, he spawned, in full size, right on top of the display. I immediately quit. Lol.
