Penumbra: Black Plague crashes. - Hardarm - 06-20-2012

Penumbra: Black Plague crashes at the beginning of the game. The Tutorial looks perfectly fine but when the intro (written characters) is finally complete the game crashes. I've looked over the internet for the same problem and it looks like it cannot load the first map. I tried to reinstall, integrate cache.. Nothing.
Can someone help please?

Yeah it cannot load the first map :/

EDIT:

"01" should be CELLS and not Overture's boat_cabin ;/

RE: Penumbra: Black Plague crashes. - jens - 06-20-2012

For some reason the settings file lists the first level from overture as the map to load, so go to My Documents/Penumbra Black Plague/ and there is a settings.cfg or user_settings.cfg file, open it in notepad and change map="level00_01_boat_cabin.dae" to map=""level01_cells.dae"

RE: Penumbra: Black Plague crashes. - Hardarm - 06-20-2012

I think something is wrong with the exe :S
EDIT: I'll try jens

Yes! it works! Big Grin
thanks jens.... and plutomaniac Wink

Oh, his second reply looks like a signature. I couldn't see that, sorry.

RE: Penumbra: Black Plague crashes. - Dongra - 08-20-2012

First off, I would like to say I really enjoyed these games. Unfortunately, I am having the same issue as the original poster. However, the solutions listed have not done anything for me.

I'm running on Windows 7 64 bit with an AMD FX 8120 Eight Core processor, an AMD HD Radeon 7700, and 8 Gigs of Ram.

I've tried searching for solutions but for some odd reason I just can't get it to work. Sorry to bother bumping an old post but I figured this issue would be appropriate here.

Try to attach your hpl.log file. The devs could sort the rest out.
