That was the original release date. They changed it to "when it's done". And 3 years later, we get September 14th. Isn't that nice?

It's a recreation of Half-Life on the Source Engine (complete overhaul), and if G-man was in Half Life, he will also be in Black Mesa.

Short answer = Yes.

EDIT: Oh, Sh*t, 666 posts!!!! No longer (sigh of relief)

This is one of the best mods I've seen on the Source Engine. It's a completely new game!

Does this need anything else? I have the Source SDK Base 2007. IS there anything else I need?

No. You don't need anything else. You have Source SDK Base 2007, which is what Black Mesa needs.

RE: Black Mesa Source - Red Letter Day - cantremember - 09-08-2012

I think it's a bit cheap for Gabe to consider Episode one & two as HalfLife 3. It's just a couple extra chapters for Half-Life 2. Same engine, same graphics (maybe they tuned it slightly but the gist is the same), same enemies for the most part. It's actually shorter than HL2 even.

That's like saying Justine is Amnesia 2.

RE: Black Mesa Source - Red Letter Day - Kreekakon - 09-08-2012

Gabe was probably referring to it in a story-wise fashion, and Valve has been using the same engine for eight years by constantly improving it. Episode 2's graphics are much better when compared to Half Life 2 three years before it.

RE: Black Mesa Source - Red Letter Day - Robby - 09-08-2012

Episode 2 used effects like Motion blur and HDR (I think it was also in Episode 1), but also used "Cinematic Physics", something I haven't seen in Episode 1.
