Serious lag problem - Mattt - 02-25-2008

Hi. I just started playing the full version of the game. It plays fine other than some minor artifacting until I leave the old office (the one early in the game, where you find the explosives manual, among other things). As soon as it loads the mine again, the frame rate is awful, worse than 1 fps. I've tried all of the following, none of which seem to make the slightest difference:
-Apply the 1.02 patch.
-Apply the 1.03 beta patch.
-Turn down some of the graphics options
-Run the game right after booting into Windows, without opening any other apps.

I'm running Windows XP, service pack 2. My system specs:
AMD Athlon 64 3200+ processor, 2.02 GHz
2 gb ram
GeForce 7900 GT/GTO with 256mb ram

Hmm I don't have any idea sorry but try this uninstall the game uninstall the drivers restart the computer then reinstall the drivers and install the game again i hope it works!

I got the same problem. It can´t be old graphic card drivers. i have all new up to date.

Hello,

I have the same problem. Just bought the CD Version of Penumbra, runs very good until I re-entered the mine from the old office, then I got less then 1 fps. Already tried installing 1.02 Patch and lowering graphic setting to min, same result.

My PC:
P4 3.2 GHz

Looks like the game has problems with multi-monitor-setups. I have my Windows desktop extended to my TV for TV-Out. If I configure the Forceware-drivers for single-view (just the main monitor) the lags are gone.
