add prop force? there aren't many rope-specific functions that I know of, and ones I am familiar with don't seem relevant.

I don't think AddPropForce works on areas unless you place an object at the end of the rope.

It depends. If you want technical ropes then you can add a RopeArea and a PosNode under the RopeArea to define its length. Then you click the RopeArea and insert the name of the PosNode you want your rope to end at. Else you can swing a body of a beam rope, the one that is all placed to the beam.

You can add a force to a body of the rope by applying it to this name: [nameoftheentity]_[nameofthebody]

You can see the bodies' various names at Model Editor. I hope it's all clear ^^
