Still no dice. But my opinion is that both are okay. It can be done well, in the case of Day[9] and occasionally PewDiePie, but there are people that do fine without it, and it can be done quite poorly sometimes.

Face cam SuX! I usually prefer to hear the sound or someone speaking. I don't want to see his face all the time unless the point of the video is scare reactions. But when it comes to story-driver custom stories etc... hearing audio comments from the player seems better for me.

Just to add something to the Face CAM suggestion, it really depends on how good you are at using your face to express stuff, or to show people your body language while talking/playing. If you look at people like Cry which has no Face CAM it is easily explained. Either he is an ugly ass which he is not or the correct one. Cry uses his voice 100% to show people how he feels and how he reacts.

If you have a Face CAM and you just sit there, playing for example; Amnesia, you gotta involve your face, if not people will think you are a boring ass, who just sits there and isn't terrified at all. If you are going to play scary games like Amnesia or all the other RPG Maker games that is so hyped right now you gotta do something new, people have seen these types of games a MILLION times and are just on the look out for a guy that dives into the game, commentates over the game, plays the game PROPERLY and no, activating of chair modes or carrying around stephano or naming thinks in your mother tongue, that is stupid and is just ruining the feel of the game.

This was a wall of text, but it is my view of the case

Tl;dr Face cam if you are good at using facial expression (getting scared, suprised or just want to show your face)

Don't use Face cam if you're just gonna sit there like a corpse and play silly games everybody've seen before

EDIT: I realized I just made a lot of points and never concluded them all, but the "Tl;dr" pretty much summed up what I wanted to say, sorry for my blabbering
