RE: Co-Op: How hard would it be? - AdiJager - 07-11-2008

Well garrys mod have good physics in multiplayer... penumbra don't need large number of players. I think for coop there be a good number of max 2-4.

In most cases, multiplayer physics are coordinated, hich means if you push a bottle on you screen, the bottle will still be in the original place on the other screen. FEAR and CoD4 uses this.

ADI; the physics in hl suck tremendously.

The objects in penumbra are quite precise, and is much more physically intuned. Everything would have to be moved when one player moves it; stacking bottles under a box to get to the top fo that shelf as an example.

Creating multiplayer code that works and is effective is costly both in..well costs and time. We aren't dealing with a multi-million dollar company here.

why not a multiplayer mod??? :D - devis - 08-29-2009

why not multiplayer mod whit mission and thinks like that..that will be cool [example]==you are 3 in a little server and you have to open a door whit there a monster on other side

[good things]Huh
1.the door are opening to the up when you open it and there a wheel to open the door
2.the monster can be killed whit 1 dynamit and 1 hit of hammer\pickaxe

[the thing to do]:lightbulb:
1.player 1 open a very little the door
2.player 2 throw dynamit in the little space of the open door
3.player 1 let door close
4.player 3 go to the wall of right of the door
5.kaboom
6.player 2 go to the face of the door and let 5 or 6 meters
7.player 1 open the door
8.monster go attack player 2
9.monster dont see player 3 on the right
10.player 3 hit monster whit the hammer\pickaxe and monster die
11.player 2 place a big metal box under the door [when open]
12.player 1 let door close and go help other
13.the box let door open
14.player 1,2 and 3 crouch and pass the door
{end}

good idea?the multiplayer?

[and kick script for noobs dont do anything -_- ]

No net code. Sorry.

RE: why not a multiplayer mod??? :D - eliasfrost - 08-29-2009

I was just about to say the same thing. The HPL has no net code as far as my knowledge go. Therefore it would be almost impossible to add multiplayer support to the Penumbra game.

Other than the technical aspect of the matter, I don't really think multiplayer is a good feature for this type of horror game. That's just my opinion though. Smile

Welcome to the forums BTW! Enjoy your stay and don't ever ask about the hunter. Smile

RE: why not a multiplayer mod??? :D - Yuhaney - 08-29-2009

Well, to be honest... For Black Plague: Online gaming MIGHT work, if it's done right.
But there's no net code, so it will not gonna happen.
But IF there were: Capture the flag would be great. Tongue:

Infected would try to protect the flag and "Phillip's" would try to steal it and take it to the safe zone.

But for other Penumbra games... No.

RE: why not a multiplayer mod??? :D - Sexbad - 08-29-2009

Ooooo... Co-op CTF.

I never thought a no-weapons game would be good for MP but that actually sounds cool.

If I recall correctly, though I forget where I heard this or even if this was what I heard, but the dangers in Unknown would be environmental mostly (¿¿¿???), so I doubt it would be much fun if Unknown ever had net code.

RE: why not a multiplayer mod??? :D - devis - 08-30-2009

yay..i just want say MULTIPLAYER MOD only survivor ..no zombie...there puzzul ONLY whit 2 player or more can do it
[example]

same door in exemple i say in the up page

and there barrel

1.player 1 open door
2.player 2 place barrel
3.player 1 go help other
4.all pass the door

{end}

and there FULLY of levels..like 30
and there befor start the game...that say number of player we need
like in my first example in up page..3 players and in it reply...2 players

and weapons can be hammer[or]pickaxe and dynamit like in first..but not same engine in first...THAT SURE THAT WILL NOT WORK

RE: why not a multiplayer mod??? :D - ShnitzelKiller - 09-04-2009

Multiplayer would be fun in cases like that.
