ModelEditor Attach lights - Rapture - 04-08-2013

Basically for the model I'm working on, a Tripod mounted Halogen floodlight, I have a stationary tripod with two grab-able/spin-able Halogen Floodlights on top.

Can meshes with a "Joint>Hinge" have a light attached to them in any way? I'm trying different combinations, but I can't seem to get the darn light to stick with the Floodlights. It always stays with the Tripod. (In the picture below, it's hard to see. But the light is aiming down at the floor with the terribly yellow outlining.

If anyone has any suggestions or fixes for this, that would be great.

If not, I can do a workaround for this so not all is lost for this.

I'm sure someone will have a solution as I'm not well versed in this area, but would it be possible to make the tripod itself its own entity (Without the floodlights, just the tripod) then make a separate entity for the floodlight and attach the light to it then in your map just position the floodlights on top of the tripod so it looks like they're all 1 entity.

Dunno if that's possible.

Go to View<Outline and, in each body, child the light you want, like:

BodyOfLight1: Billboard, Light

RE: ModelEditor Attach lights - Rapture - 04-08-2013

@The Chaser - That sorta works, but it seems to only let me attach to one object at a time. Which made me remember how to make this work, I just had to select the SubMesh and Lights buttons when I was attaching the thing. Now it works...

On another note, you guys might have to tweak with the lighting and billboards. Whatever billboards I put on is just plain ugly.

RE: ModelEditor Attach lights - The chaser - 04-08-2013

Try using a few billboards but VERY VERY faint. I'd reccomend you to put white_lightray.mat. Like, four FixedAxis in the good direction, and, in the center, an Axis one. Also put a not that faint bb_white_halo.
