Horror: The Vanishing Of Ethan Carter - Googolplex - 07-25-2013

I think, it could be an interesting game:

RE: Horror: The Vanishing Of Ethan Carter - Statyk - 07-25-2013

Looks like an interesting story. I just hope they don't make this into another Dear Esther where you just walk and the game does all the playing for you. For now, I won't make assumptions until more is shown, I'm just throwing that idea of mine out there.

RE: Horror: The Vanishing Of Ethan Carter - Draug - 07-25-2013

Already kept this in my mind for several months now. Unfortunately there is no gameplay footage or something like that available at the moment Sad

Most of them were developers of Painkiller, which is just enough to get my excited, but the game really does look amazing!

RE: Horror: The Vanishing Of Ethan Carter - Damascus Rose - 10-09-2013

I saw thomas tweet about this

The graphics are nice? although I'm not sure what this is about really or how it works so I can't say it looks good yet

Quite excited about this game, sounds very interesting Smile

RE: Horror: The Vanishing Of Ethan Carter - Paddy™ - 07-01-2014

Here's a new talk given at Digital Dragons by the game's primary developer, Adrian Chmielarz:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qsYYML1gew4

He mentions his collaboration with Thomas Grip in coming up with the 4-Layer Narrative Design Approach, which both SOMA and TVoEC are using.

The talk also shows about 2 minutes of gameplay at around 43:40.

The graphics are jaw-dropping. The devs are using a technique called photogrammetry, which involves photographing real-world objects and using software to convert the images into 3D models, along with all of the intricate detail the real world provides. You can see this being done in the following blog post:

Thanks for the interesting stuff. The game seems to become a lot better than I thought.

RE: Horror: The Vanishing Of Ethan Carter - Paddy™ - 07-01-2014

Same here! I've always had an interest in it, but at this point I'm as nearly excited to play it as I am about SOMA. And the good news is that The Vanishing of Ethan Carter is due for release in a few months (September, I believe).
