Amnesia runs slow even with great PC spec's - Knightmare110 - 08-29-2013

Hi, I am having trouble running Amnesia without serious FPS issues. I have a desktop. My NVIDIA graphics cards are up to date, and I also do not have an integrated graphics card. I have turned off SSAO, but still it lags badly. I have even tried running it on only 2 cores, but it does not help. My OpenGL version is 4.3.0. Does anyone have any other suggestions?

Possibly try and change the settings in your nvidia control panel, for example if you force some settings, change them to be application controlled instead.

You are trying to play a custom story or full conversion. Support for these is not given here. Was Amnesia fine before trying custom stories?

I have tried both, but they both run very slowly. I have turned the graphical settings to the lowest level and disabled everything, but still it does not work. I should have mentioned above that the game worked fine until I got the new graphics card, a GTX 760. Before that I had a Radeon HD graphics card.

I have tried this, but still it does not work.

I tried that, downloaded GeForce 320.49, and still it runs very slowly. When I am in corridors, it runs okay at about 15-20 FPS, but when I enter a room, I get around 5-10 FPS.

With such a graphics card it should be at constant 60 fps at maximum settings. You said it worked fine before getting the new graphics card so it's either corrupted drivers, corrupted game files or wrong configuration file.

1) Did you follow the guide to remove the AMD leftovers completely? Reinstalling just the nvidia driver is not enough.
2) After that, go to Documents and rename the folder Amnesia to Amnesia_TEST.
3) Do a steam file integrity check.
4) Start a new game after setting all the graphics to the highest level and see if it still lags.

Reduce the resolution. That will help a lot.

It doesn't matter. There shouldn't be a problem at any resolution.
