graphic tuning - Googolplex - 11-07-2008

hello,
I would make better graphics in penumbra overture.

the max resolution is 1280x1024
the max anti aliasing is 4x

and there are much more options you can set higher.

you must open the "penumbra overture" folder in "My documents".
then you must open the file "settings.cfg" with editor.

there you can set higher resolution or antialiasing up to 16x.

but with more anti aliasing, the image will be more blurred - is it normaly?

for higher resolution, you must edit the file "hpl.txt", too.

there are much more options, like...

HapticMaxInteractDist
LimitFPS
PhysicsAccuracy

when you set it higher or set "LimitFPS" to false, yo will get better grapfics and performance?

what is the option "HapticMaxInteractDist"?

can anybody test it?

and what is a haptic?

RE: graphic tuning - Thomas - 11-07-2008

HapticMaxInteractDist:
Only matters if you have the HaptX version. It has to do with the range of the haptics device.

LimitFPS:
The game caps the fps at 60 when this is true. Since logic is only updated 60 times per sec any extra frames might slow the game down, but it is good to have off if you want to benchmark.

PhysicsAccuracy.
Is at max by default, any lower values will make the physics less accurate and the game somewhat faster. However, lower values might break the simulation (I have noticed the crane gets messed up for example).

OK, thank you.
But, what about the anti-aliasing and the resolution?

And in the sound-options you can set the hardware usage to true. wheather it is in the main-menu already activated.

And what kind of graphic-device does the game use?

DirectX or OpenGL?

or OpenAL???
