RE: Discussion about Depth and other movies - PathOS - 10-02-2015

There is a timeline involved here.

Vivarium and Mockingbird have their place in it and these transmissions do as well. The fun thing will be to try and piece them all together in a way that fits.

For the sake of spoilers, I'm not going to check this timeline yet, but someone over on the SOMA subreddit put together one. https://www.reddit.com/r/soma/comments/3mwr3g/spoilers_complete_timeline_of_events_in_soma/

I have no idea though if it has been updated with the transmission videos.

And can someone tell me, these series take place before or after Vivarium and Mockingbird?

It's could be a Continuity error .....however I suspect that this miniseries may have some scenes that were cut from it, but I could be wrong. The director has a good eye for Continuity though (just look at the Vivarium nightmare) so I think it's more likely there is a cut scene in there.

Also it's possible the entire first part of this episode is a dream.

And this episode pretty much canonizes the series to be after Vivarium and Mocking bird ( Reed's jump suit and hair are identical to the way they were in both the shorts preceding the mini series)

Also the fact that Reed has a nightmare she is caught in the Vivarium simulation (and mentions the device) is kind of a dead give away Wink

In Vivarium and Mockingbird Reed wears a Theta jumpsuit. In Transmission series she works in Lambda, so she wears a Lambda suit everytime except for the last part of episode 4. But it's clearly the same place and the same time as in the first part of episode.

Well .. guess I understand that actor's decision to take a step back better now. These are getting more and more disturbing.

I love it! Big Grin

So These are definitely not being shown in chronological order, i think Caffeinated pointed this out earlier....although they may still be in the "correct" order or the order they are intended to be seen in.

Here we have Golaski and Reed finishing what appears to be the loading of the cargo they were talking about in the end of transmission 1...with Reed even
mentioning Halperin and reflecting on why the WAU would need a UH 2 robot. Also still wearing their jumpsuit lights from video 1.

Also note at the end of transmission 3 Golaski turns a suspicious looking eye to storage 09b, the same one him and Imogen enter in transmission 1.

I believe the correct Chronological order is 3, 2, 1, 5, 4......... but without the remaining 3 videos who knows.

Anyone else have any idea on why these are being shown in a crazy order?

I'd hypothesize it's to give them a sense of disconnect from reality. Like fragments of people's lives during Pathos that have been digested and reassembled or something. I dunno.

Maybe Don Thacker likes Pulp Fiction and Memento.

Also the 'Frontflesh' and scenario that came from it was not what I was expecting. Ugh that's creepy.
