Oh, it was from

Download.com

The demo is not available in the very latest version that has the ATI hotfix applied and the download.com version could be even older.

RE: ATI HD Problem: Beta hotfix available - UPDATED 11/6 - Durandal - 05-08-2010

You were completely right! The Download.com version must be older, because the demo from Gameupdates.org, the bittorrent one, had no real issues on any settings.

So I bought the game! $5 for the rest is an amazing price. I hope this Humble Indie Bundle thing works out for you guys because I want to see more out of the studio!

Well my problem is a bit different from what is mentioned. My graphics card is ATI sapphire 4850 and here's my problem:

http://img532.imageshack.us/img532/8301/59137772.jpg

As you see in the screenshot, the map is not in the place where it should be and the window vision is also not in the right place. This changes as i move the camera. Some objects also disappear at certain angles but i don't have the 'invisible walls' problem. I tried the patch and what you suggested at the first post but nothing changed.

I would appreciate it if you could help me with the problem. And i should say that i respect too much for your work. The game's certainly a new breath for horror/survival games. And sorry for my lame english =) Thanks...

Try turning of bloom or use a different resolution and see if that helps.

Nope. The problem still exists

RE: ATI HD Problem: Beta hotfix available - UPDATED 11/6 - Camara - 07-10-2010

I have Penumbra Black Plague from Gamersgate and I'm getting some crashes at random times and places. The message that appears is "Penumbra.exe caused an EXCEPTION_ACESS_VIOLATION in module atioglxx.dll at 001B.696BBD0D, atiPS()+6230349 byte(s)". I have updated the drivers but I get the same errors. I have an ATI Mobility Radeon HD 2400 in a Toshiba Satellite laptop.

Does this hotfix solve this crashes problem or just graphic glitches? I have no graphics problems with the game.

Hi,
I'm not getting the hotfix to work.

a) Your support site (http://support.frictionalgames.com/entry/87/) isn't working, just showing a blank page
b) The hotfix I downloaded from strategyinformer.com was complaining about missing .dlls
I downloaded the first too, but couldn't find the right "Newton.dll"

What should I do? (I'm getting the typical glitches and have updated my game and drivers. I also changed my settings as recommended (disabling Catalyst AI etc)

RE: ATI HD Problem: Beta hotfix available - UPDATED 11/6 - jens - 07-15-2010

Try http://updates.frictionalgames.com/ as entry/## can change.

Not sure what hotfix it would be on stratgeyinformer, but if it complains about missing .dll you are not placing the hotfix in the correct location, or if it is an installer the installer is not finding the correct location. The install hotfix must end up in a location so it replaces or is next to the original penumbra.exe, so search for penumbra.exe and see where it is located.

Hello,

thanks for your reply. I placed the hotfix (debugPenumbraOverture.exe) in the correct folder this time and it started the game, but I'm still getting the same glitches.

Also, under http://updates.frictionalgames.com/ I only find the 1.1 patch.
