my game wont save, custom stories either.. what do i do? - timousse11 - 08-27-2015

I restarted playing the game but every time that I press continue it brings me to the last map with alexander and the portal.

every time I start a custom story and then press save and exit to main menu, when I come back to play it again it only says start and cancel instead of start, cancel, load and continue.

ive tried every thing even uninstalling the game several times.

Perhaps some permissions are preventing the game from writing to the Documents folder. Have you tried running the game as administrator?

Had a similiar issue when I switched on Windows 8.1. Running the game as administrator helped for me.

I cant make a new player and my other players don't show anymore. I went to documents and tried to find them but I couldn't

Method 1: Temporary Admin
- Right click the Amnesia.exe located in its install location

Code:
Retail: C:\Program Files (x86)\Amnesia - The Dark Descent\redist\

Steam:  C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Amnesia - The Dark Descent\

- Click "Run as Administrator".

The game will run as an admin for that session.

Method 2: Always Admin
- Right click the Amnesia.exe located in its install location

Code:
Retail: C:\Program Files (x86)\Amnesia - The Dark Descent\redist\

Steam:  C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Amnesia - The Dark Descent\

- Select Properties
- Under the compatibility tab, tick the "Run this program as an administrator."
- Apply.

Now the game will run as an admin every time.

Are your custom stories launched from within Amnesia not saving correctly? Or are they full conversion mods?

within amnesia but when I got to the refinery in the real game and saved I tried to play a custom story again and it saved so I really don't know what happened but thank you so much for the help with the administrator thing. it helped for amnesia and I tried it for my penumbra games and it fixed them to so thank you
