SOMA: What are you looking forward to? - Romulator - 09-04-2015

What's got you interested in SOMA? The game's setting and universe? The story? The characters? Theories? Mechanics?

Or perhaps something outside of the game's scope; the new HPL3 engine? The fact that Frictional Games has made it? Comparing it to other similar games? Maybe even you stumbled across Depth which lead you to be intrigued by this game.

Personally, I'm looking forward to most of the above Smile I cannot wait to get my hands on the game and explore the new updates to HPL. Maybe I can actually release a custom story worth distributing with it! I also am intrigued by the new atmosphere we're being exposed to. By no means is an "underwater facility" a new environment in video games and movie media, but I would like to see what direction Frictional Games takes.

I am also looking forward to the post game completion, looking at how some things were achieved in SOMA's scripting.

I'm looking forward to SOMA's exploration of consciousness.

Pretty much everything and I'm very intereseted about new gameplay mechanicsCool

Rapture, with all you said about engine I would like to play with new particle system of HPL3.
Does in engine editor existes variables for testing turbulence and vortex rotation effects of particles?

Being able to Get/Set Rotation and Scale for entities

PointLights can now have dynamic shadows

Being able to Get/Set key-presses and use scripts for key presses

(I hope all 3 come true)

No, I'm not forcing anything. It says on blog:

"The game has been designed to support a variety of play styles and still give a complete experience, but we hope you'll find that by immersing yourself in the world of SOMA your story experience will be considerably enhanced."

This is what I've meant how we can play it in different ways.

Ohhh. This.
I think they meant that you can just rush through the game and skip the notes, draws, etc and still get the main idea of the story.

Doesn't play style mean how you react in the game world ? I hope it's something more than skipping the notes.

You just reminded me about something. On preview build some fonts in notes were to small to read pleasantly. I would like they increase the font size.

Yeah, I think there are two play styles centered in the game. Both will fulfill you on story, but reading all notes and interractions is like Game+.

Give me MOAR story....Wink
