Games you want(ed) to play? - Yuhaney - 05-29-2016

This topic is about retail and downloadable games that you wanted to play at some point, but they are no longer available anywhere or even if they are, they are not playable. If you know any retail games (PC or Console) that have gone extinct, you are free to share. If there are some games you did play but they are no longer available/playable, please share!

I wish every game had a physical retail release that isn't having a single use code. This way the game would have life as long as the copy exists. I hate to see games (despite how legendary or awful garbage they may be) vanish into non-existence because of this. Some games have had retail release, but the game has been "multiplayer only" with dedicated servers available by the company. When the company pulls the plug, there goes the game too. Thanks to services such as GameRanger (PC), XLink Kai (Consoles) and some others, this could have been avoided if the game had a LAN support. For example, Need for Speed: Most Wanted (2005) has had it's servers taken down years ago but I was still able to play it in multiplayer with no problems. It also has single-player mode so it would be playable even if there was no multiplayer.

Two games I remember right now, that I would have liked to play were:
BREACH
I'm Not Alone

Both probably either mediocre at best or awful at worst.

I actually couldn't play SOMA because I was 32 bit and my computer was outdated by 5 years. It was heartbreaking for me as I was following this game the moment it was teased after A: AMFP came out. Thankfully after 2 months I beat the game on my medium powerful computer.

You mean you were 32 bits.

One game I really miss playing in its prime was Phantasy Star Online. I spent countless hours on the Xbox Original with this game before it eventually had its servers shut down. There's a working version of it on the PC with active servers but that was a few years ago. My anti-virus detected a suspicious file on it, auto-deleted it, and I never got around to re-installing it. Plus it just didn't feel the same. When the game was super active back then, it was much different with all the events and what-not... sigh...

Oh and another game was a Pandemic game called Lord of the Rings: Conquest. I really wished I played it back when EA didn't destroy the developers and their servers.

A retail copy of Pokemon HeartGold and SoulSilver.

Stuff's expensive.

Star Trek: Elite Force.

I sadly can't get it to work on Windows 7/8/10. One of my favorite older games and probably the best Trek game created.

Curse of the older games; getting them to work.
