ATI Mobility X2330, Anyone? - Tanshaydar - 10-12-2010

Hi;
One of my friends whom I told to play Amnesia, tried the demo but couldn't run due to his outdated drivers.
It seems like ATI has finished their official support on these cards.

Anyone has a solution? Because as hardware, it should run this game, but there is no driver.

Modified ATI MOBILITY RADEON X2300 is the driver that should work for YOU.

On my Toshiba laptop i can only update to 9.12 at most , but you might be more lucky ...

btw. runs perfect on my laptop with modified ati 9.12 graphic driver.

Well , it could work ...

the link you gave are pre-modified drivers for laptops ...

the link i gave ya , is a programm to convert desktop graphic-card drivers to work on laptops.

Still , i"m gonna try and install the newest from your link.

Well, he now can play whole Penumbra series plus Amnesia. He's free of my speechifications. Plus, he's buying the game!

I'm not lucky as you! Sad

No way to obtain a decent FPS on my pc:
Intel core 2 duo T7200
2048 RAM
ATI MOBILITY RADEON X2300 128MB
Vista Home Premium

Tried everything:
- uninstall old graphic driver, reboot, driver sweeper, reboot, install new driver, reboot (tried with ~10 different drivers including the modded one from http://www.touslesdrivers.com linked in this post: now I have restored the 10.2 legacy modded with mobility modder)
- disable aero
- disable steam overlay
- msconfig with selective startup (no services or useless programs)

I obtain an unplayable 10-20fps setting everything to minimum and resolution to 640*480 (window mode).

Any other troubleshooting tips?

I can't find any Omega Drivers (ATI) for Windows Vista and I can't do what you tell about SiS GART drivers.

Hope to be scared soon! Tongue

Sorry for my bad english! Sad

RE: ATI Mobility X2330, Anyone? - Tanshaydar - 10-28-2010

I can say FullScreen mode will work better than Windowed mode since desktop composition won't try to draw everything on your desktop.

Can you play Penumbra games?

RE: ATI Mobility X2330, Anyone? - tez - 10-29-2010

I also tried 640*480 fullscreen mode obtaining the same fps but at first sight the window mode seems faster! Smile

During my experiments I always checked the fps on Amnesia start menu with FRAPS:
11 fps with default medium settings (1024*768)
19 fps with everything at minimum (640*480 window/fullscreen)

If you can play this game with the same graphic card (X2330 is a typo??? Can't find this card with google! 128Mb?), maybe I have some conflict on my pc! No way to format it: I have to move house soon! Smile

Never try Penumbra Games: maybe I can download a demo and give it a try!

No problems with other OPENGL games like Doom 3, Prey, Quake 4 (I know it is the same engine).

Using OpenGL Extension Viewer 3.0 it seems that my card supports 100% 2.1 extensions. This is the ATI Mobility Radeon™ X2300 Specs: http://www.amd.com/us/products/notebook/graphics/ati-mobility-hd-2000/x2300/Pages/x2300-specs.aspx
