Isn't a BIG work relasing a game on both DirectX and OpenGL?

RE: FrictionalGames OpenGL Hero - Thomas - 03-31-2011

d3d + ogl: Probably is a bit of work, but edward (our mac / linux porter) will have have to help me out Smile

D3D version: Gonna be 10/11 (ogl as fallback perhaps).

64bit: Doubt it as it does not really mean any performance boost, just more work for me Smile (but we'll see)

I don't really want to sound like pessimistic, but think 'a bit of work' is very optimistic Tongue

Bit off-topic, but is Frictional also planning to get Hardware audio/surround to work in the next releases? (And perhaps get EAX support or OpenAL? I think being able to hear some is behind a wall or under/above water would really add tons of immersion.)

D3D is DirectX right?

If so, D3D V being 10/11 = Me no buy next Frictional Game Sad

RE: FrictionalGames OpenGL Hero - Tanshaydar - 04-11-2011

Well, if they are brave enough to release an OpenGL game, I don't think they will go only for D10/11 like other retarded so-called game companies did.

RE: FrictionalGames OpenGL Hero - jens - 04-11-2011

Cards released since end of 2006/beginning of 2007 support D10, you'll need a card from around that time anyway to have enough performance to run the game. Not saying this is 100% the case, as it is so early, just saying that by the time there is a game to play, old cards (2006 and earlier) will be ancient by then.

So OpenGL goes for Dx9?

OpenGL technlogy at this time have the same special features of DirectX 11 like Tessellation, ecc.ecc.
