RE: Custom Model : Wall Sconce
Alright, added a pic with the wireframe and poly count on it. Which number do you go by for poly count? I guess I still need to triangulate it also, I heard that Amnesia doesn't like quads.

Next step, texturing!

So yea, 1700 tris. It's sorta high; you can put that number down by using the Reduce option, or you could convert Poly to Nurbs/SubD and then back to poly using the tesselation options (which you can use to specify the exact amount of triangles if you want).

And yes, textures will only show up on half the model if you have quads, so make sure to convert to tri's; either while converting from SubD/Nurbs to Poly, by using the triangulate option in maya, or while using the triangulate option in the OpenCollada exporter.

RE: Custom Model : Wall Sconce
So I did a UV unwrap with the Automatic Mapping option, and took that into photoshop and textured it. However, when I load the file in Maya it looks like this...

Spoiler below!

Any ideas why it is showing up like that?

This is the (unfinished) texture that I'm using.

I like it! Good luck with the rest of it, can't wait to see the finished product.

Took a break from the texturing and made a simple modern ceiling light.

Also, if an admin could move this thread to the Showcase section, that would be awesome. Just realized I put it in the wrong section.

Thread moved. Another modern lamp, great! Maybe I can use these at EtD later on. Keep up the good work! Smile

RE: Selyp's Custom Models
For editing UV's, you can do it with the UV Texture Editor, which allows you to move UV points around. Other than looking at it directly, all I can say is you'll have to follow a detailed tutorial. D:
