RE: Screenshot criticism thread

Ok heres a almost completed version of the "evil" version of this.

Spoiler below!

You can't really tell in the picture, but I'm using blood decals on the teeth. But the decals won't apply themselves correctly to them... they are chopped up badly. Worse if you move, they flicker alot. Any way of fixing this?

Scale them small and aim them correctly with rotation.
Flicker happens because more than 1 texture is at the exact same height. So try not to have more than have decals colliding.
Retexture the rocks if that doesnt help.

I don't ahve many suggestions for improvement as I cant see the entire map, but remember to add decals on the floor of the bridge. I can see the repeating pattern slightly, which can easily be fixed. Also, always use pointlights in conjuction with your lamp entities. There are areas of very low lighting on the bridge, which could easily be fixed with a couple of dim pointlights. Finally, add some items of interest in some places, maybe a metal chair and a table out on the cliff top, with some books, a lamp and a note. It doesn't have to look in place as long as you give a bit of story to it, give the player an incentive to look under every rock. For me the selling point of a custom story is in it's attention to detail. I like reading all the notes, and looking through all the drawers. Maybe add a few randomly triggered scares.
I completly forgot about the decals, and you're right about using point lights along with the lamps; the areas between the lamps were a little bit to dark. Thanks!

I don't want to place a lot of items in this area, since it's supposed to be a place that usually no one goes to. But I do have a few scares in mind...

The rest of the map is still a WIP, that's why I'm showing so little. But I put a lot of focus on the bridge first and wanted to know if it looked good. Also, I still don't have a clear idea for the rest, and the entire map is changing a lot in my mind; so I want to wait untill I have a solid idea of what I want to do with it before continuing.

I actually think it's the other way around, the textures look great, but the colors could use work. The only thing i could think of to improve on it is make the red more of a dark brown.
