Penumbra tech demo quit freeze

I need help. I have installed the tech demo, but each time I quit, it freezes up and after clicking a long time it says the program has stoped working. I need help. I just realized that it will quit if you press the quit button, but it woun't save the settings, how do I save settings?

Run the game as an administrator with Windows XP compatibility mode.

I saw other people with all high settings. Is it possible I downloaded it from the wrong place. And also there is this ting that pops up after installing it. It says IPersist code somthing access denied. Whats that mean?

I have no idea. Maybe an antivirus or even a virus or similar. This is definitely a specific operating system issue as it seems.
