Should I release a public demo or not?

I would like your opinions on this question, guys. Should I release a public demo of my custom story (would be Part One, 13 maps in total, about an hour or two of gameplay) or just hold off until the thing is complete (which might a while. >.>)

A public demo would allow me to get feedback on what I have on a large scale, but it would spoil the surprise to people when the full release eventually comes. Tongue

I don't know. Let me know what you think.

Gonna add a poll too, question is "Is releasing a public demo a good idea?"

I'm not a big fan of demos, just get some beta testers and then wait to release untill it's finished Smile

"Part 1" is a misnomer on my part; it's not like a Part 1 of my custom story, then I build Part 2 or anything...no, the full, complete custom story is planned to be about a 3 hour experience with all the parts just sections of the whole thing (like Chapter 1-3 in Amnesia the game). That's why I didn't want to release the whole thing separately; the story would make no sense without a conclusion. I mean I could release it in halves...with some answers given then a part two afterwards....but eh, I don't know about that...

I released a demo of the first two chapters of my CS, and it's gaining me quite a bit of exposure. Someone even started doing a playthrough of it on Youtube and it's getting me really pumped up to finish!

That sounds good, actually...that would be the point of releasing the demo, so that people can see the hard work I've put into my custom story (which is modeled in the main Amnesia style).
