Well made apps make people loose weight and reduce stress...? Logic is overrated

RE: The (Least) Favorite aspects of your culture.

Well that happened. Anywho, I guess since this has already spiraled down into a shit fest I might as well give my input. For one, I don't go around and brag about having an iPhone, in fact the only time I even mention it is when it's brought up, but I most certainly don't go up to everyone I know and go "HEY GUIZ LUK AT DIS KEWL FONE I GAWT!!!!". On the note of them being "weak as shit"... Dunno where you got that from. I've had mine for about a year now and it's about as good as when I first got it. If you're not a clumsy idiot, it's really not that hard to keep it intact. Even with that said, from what I've seen it's not really any weaker than less fancy phones.

Honestly though, it just makes things convenient. I have my whole music collection loaded up on it and can access the Internet at anytime. Whenever I'm out of the house and get bored or waiting for something, I can pull it out and check up on the forums or other websites I go to (and I don't have to be deal with a super shitty interface or be worried that my 3G's gonna cut out at any point). When I get out of school, I can listen to music on my way home, or really for any other time where I need something to listen to. With how much I use it, I can safely say that it was worth the money (actually, now that I think about it I didn't even pay for it, I got it as a free upgrade a while ago through Verizon). I mean hell, half the posts I make here I make on my phone. Yeah it may not be for everyone, but it most certainly is not "a worthless weak shit plastic toy".

Also calm the fuck down Kartan, goddamn.

Of course i'm serious, no one is more productive or relaxed because of Iphone apps lol..they might be fun but they are mostly just that - toys and status symbols. IMO many are just further ruining their already limited, sad attention spans. I remember working with 20 year olds who thought there was something wrong with me because I could sit for five minutes on my break without doing anything - to me that's the sign of someone who essentially has technology-induced ADD lol, it shouldn't be hard for someone to relax, or to focus on a conversation or something without needing to dick around on their Iphone etc., yet I see it all the time, and then they try to justify it by pretending the Iphone serves some really important practical purpose in their lives.

Just admit it, they are toys..at least then you can be honest about what you want to do with it. As a gamer and person who loves fun, i can respect simply doing stuff for fun..but I hate claiming that what amounts to an obsessive habit for many serves some kind of useful purpose.

Not saying they are bad, hell you can look at porn and play games, make music, listen to music, whatever you want..the technology is really amazing, but IMO what most people do with it is an abject, total waste of time disguised as something productive, or meaningful communication.

I suspect the number of people who actually improve them themselves due to Iphone apps and not other things is probably roughly equivalent to the number of people who lose and keep off weight by following fad diets, and the number of people that actually use their home gym equipment they bought to stay in shape.. that is to say - very few.

Uhh...huuh....

So:

1. IPhones are portable, pocket computers that fill a void that Laptops and PC's cannot fill.

2. They are expensive. That's why they are called luxuries.

3. Why so serious? If people want to get them, let them.

4. Can we please get on topic again? We are kind of turning into a Iphone hate thread.

5. Is it wrong if there is a part of me that hates industrialization? I definitely see the benefits of mass production and society could not function without it. But Sometimes I wish people made things like they did in the 18th century: Fashionable, practical, and long lasting.(100 year warranties, anyone? XD) Now we get cheap stuff that you have to replace every 2-3 years.

This is more of a sentiment than a practical thought process. I can indulge myself, right?

I live in Sweden, the most butthurt nation in the world. Here, everyday racism is more acceptable than "glorifying" alcohol.

Still hasn't gotten over the loss of wubwub...

a nation worse than the Uk or...(shudder) the USA? you poor sod. and there was me thinking it was impossible to beat the US for everyday racism.

speaking of racism, heres something i HATE about the uk, its NOT ok for me to go saying bad things about Afro-carribean people (and damn correct that its not okay) yet apparantly (according to the newspapers anyway, the local population here, out in the wilds, is 99% white british, so i cant really judge outside of the media) its fine for them to bring the major hate on us simply because we are white, because apparantly its "not racist" because its "their youth culture" ?!?!?

im sorry Mr "call me Dave" ruddy Cameron, but when i were growing up i was told racism was anyone bringing the hate on anyone of another race, now you try and tell me Racism is only Racism if a white person picks on a non white person, but its fine the other way round..?

NO. Racism is Racism, no matter what race is picking on wichever race, its unnacceptable in ALL forms. there should be no differention. yet, our government seems to think there should be, its not on.

Because people are silly, that's why.

Think of "racism rights" as a weighing scale; when one side is at an inferior position, they try to adjust it, and sometimes they'll overdo it, and the beam will begin tipping too much in the opposite direction instead.

What do you mean by "everyday racism"? You're not one of these guys who yell "YOU RACIST!" when someone points how high crime statistics immigrants have..?

RE: The (Least) Favorite aspects of your culture.

ahhh. its like when the school bully gets excluded and then gets re-instasted because the courts stressed his "human right" to "have an eduction" and decided to completly forget the "human rights" of his victims because they werent baught into the case, only the exclusion, totally unbalancing the beam, because they only look at ONE side of the story. now i get it, Thanks Kreekaron.

its still bally unfair though!

hmm, going on dark-ones post. that is another thing that winds me up, apparanly quoting genine police fiqures is racist now if it involves immigrants... sorry, it isnt, a criminal is a criminal regardless of where they are from, and should be dealt with as such,

now, saying "all immig**nts are criminals!" IS racist as all heck, and you should be slammed with every ounce of venom and scorn anyone in earshot can muster. but it is NOT racist to point out that "so many % of crimes are carried out by immigrants". because thats just a statistic. not all immigrants are criminals, hell most of them are probably more law abiding than 90% of the "home team" if you will, its probably the same 100 or so bad ones carrying out a number of crimes, and gertting away with it because they play the "huamn rights" card when they get to court, because for some reason, the EU seems to think a criminal from Africa has more rights than a victim from the country the case takes place in simply because the criminal is from Africa. he shouldnt. he should be dealt with as what he is, a criminal, with No special treatment deffered due to his country of origin.
