A few minutes ago, i suddenly saw a very bright light above the sky, it later faded away.

Was it a UFO or just my imagination?

It's an ufo as long as it's Unknown Flying Object. If it was something you didn't recognise, it was ufo for you. Personally I believe that, by the description you gave, it was definitely the russian santa claus.
My brother was an uknown flying object yestarday as I saw him flew from his apartment, thrown by his, now former, gf.
