Solved: 8 Years, 1 Month ago Penumbra language

Hi folks,

I live in the Czech Republic, I played Penumbra and immediately recommended it to my friends to share my experience and to spread the word of this good work youve done. Unfortunately, while Penumbra is not available in the czech language and because of that, some of my czech friends are simply unable to play it, since story/text is a huge part of the whole experience.

In short, I was hoping whether someone of you could point me to some way on how to create my own language version or modifying an existing one. Id create a free Czech version with all text translations and upload it here for others, if Ill be successful.

If theres already some Czech version available, Id appreciate a link to it, since I havent seen it anywhere, even in the stores.

PF 2011!

There is no czech translation avaiable.
I did not knew if anyone has translated it self.
I think there is only a czech translation in requiem 2009 release.
You have to play it in english.

Creating your own translations will be quite time-consuming, but if you're up to the task:
...\Overture\redist\config\English.lang (~1100 lines of text)
...\Black Plague\redist\config\English.lang (~1600)
...\Black Plague\redist\expansion01\config\English_exp.lang (~700)

Wow, well, its going to take me few coffees before I finish that, but if Ill success, Ill definitely post the results here Wink Hope it would be helpful for the devs for spreading the game in this country

Anyone knows how to handle the language specific letters? Some specific text encoding, or a font?
I'm trying to translate to polish, but still no luck in this matter.

Set the encoding to UTF-8

That's not working. Changing text encoding to UTF-8 or any other gives the same efect. Specific letters spoil all the text.
Also changing the system localisation to polish gives no effect. Still the same.

You have to use an unicode language.
Looks like this one for example.

[u1056][u1091][u1089][u1089][u1082][u1080][u1081]

To elaborate, you will have to exchange the special letters to a unicode number as Googolplex pointed out. I'm not very familiar with Czech or unicode, but I believe this is what you need:

http://en.wikiversity.org/wiki/Typing_Czech

There is a table with the letters and their specific unicode under the Linux section.
