Here's a best tip.

Do not light absoluty everything you see. Just because you go into the darkness does not mean you will go insane instantly. Lite sertain sections of the map. you get a lot of tinderboxes. Use the lantern cautiously. Don't leave it on for too long, It burns about above average 5-6 minutes at full bar, and oil is sometimes rare if you don't look hard enough. the only time you want to be cautious is when you sanity is at Orange state. If it hits red, controlling your character is hard. and don't forget about Remembering where you can hide when a monster is around. Make sure the use Sprint from time to time. And you shouldn't have problem with less inventory

And yes, that scared me badly when I open the door and HELLO is a monster.
