Solved: 8 Years, 2 Months ago Amnesia.exe caused an EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION

Downloaded "Amnesia" off of Steam today.

Despite my computer exceeding all of the minimum system requirements, it doesn't work. I can't even get to a startup menu. The screen goes black like it's loading the game, then I am returned to Windows with this error message:

Amnesia.exe caused an EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION in module Amnesia.exe at 001B:0046139A

So...what do I do?

I am running Windows XP with a GeForce 7600 card, more than 250gb of free space and all the latest drivers.

Did I just flush $20 down the drain?

This is pretty annoying.
