Spoiler below!
The key for the oil room lies in the first window when you enter the south wing. Its suppose to be REALLY hard to find =P
As for the dagger, when you look at the description it says used to cut organic tissue, its suppose to be used on the web in the entrance. Its an optional choice however, as all that happens is a collapse occurs and you loose your lantern. Which is why another one is in the South Hall.
