The monster is the closest thing Amnesia has to "the thing out to get you". If you have him help the player, he'll lose his role, and won't be as scary anymore. Don't put it in.

Seeing as how their is a lack of a "Friendly NPC" model, I think the grunt works fine. Theirs been 1 or more odd CS that have used it (Can't remember the names, saw Cry play them) and they seem to work just fine.

I've met grunts about 10,000 times. I think its time for a change of sterotypes that all Grunts are evil.
