For Infected with the flashlight or any weapons I used Maya.
I attached the flashlight model to infected hand and exported it to .dae format.

Yes that's I meant with too much work. Of course that goes for someone who has absolutily no Maya knowledge. The tech demo enemies were not imported correctly before, there was texture corruption and crashes if I recall correctly. At some point I'll give it another go.
