Black screen after game start

First off, sorry to make another of these threads, but I've read all the ones out there right now and none are helping me. Basically everything is fine up to the point of actually trying to play the game. Screen is completely black except for I think a torch that I must have ran into since I can still move around and hear water. The icon of it shows up and when I click it says No Tinderboxes. Also when I press M the text will show up saying what to do, but nothing else is visible.

I use a W7 desktop and my graphics card is a Sapphire Xtreme Radeon HD5830. It's completely updated and hasn't had any problems with anything else. When I check dxdiag it says my graphics card is Intel HD graphics family, but I've read that normal for it to say that while my actual card still runs everything, so I'm not sure. Any help is appreciated.

1) What operating system do you have? Also 32-bit or 64-bit?
2) What is your exact laptop model?

Basically you need to update the Intel drivers to 2361 and not 2342 that you currently have. But we could be able to make the game play with the AMD card. Have you checked this thread:

2. It's a custom built desktop with;
-MSI H61M-P21
-Core i5 2300
-Sapphire Xtreme Radeon HD5830
-4gb ram

I did take a look at the thread you mentioned but I assume it's only for laptops?

Desktop? And the game only detects the Intel card? Strange, make sure you have these installed then:

1) http://sites.amd.com/us/game/downloads/P...n7-64.aspx

Try to run the game, it should run with the AMD card. Check that at the HPL.log file.

If not:

2) http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_D...pe=Drivers

This will definitely make the game run but on the Intel card which is far worse than the AMD one.

Ahh, well better with that than nothing I suppose. Thanks for the help . I may have to look into my computer not reading my actual card now too lol.

Maybe you haven't installed the AMD drivers, that's why. Try to install the 2 things I mentioned above and it should work just fine.
