Profile being deleted

it has to do with the operating system or steam somehow. I don't know anything more though on that...

You might have to specifically launch amnesia.exe as an administrator (if that is possible in XP, can't recall) or maybe completely uninstall and re-installing the game might work.

Are you playing any other game that writes files to your My Documents folder? Have you tried to update the permissions on the My Documents folder, perhaps they are not completely correct at the moment.

i do not think it is possible ive had friends who r more computer smart than i am but there wasnt a way. I have already tried to uninstall and reinstall i can try it again tonight see if it helps any. Yes there is one other game that goes to my documents. Star Craft 2

A fresh operating system should not cause such problems at all, that's how. It could also be a steam problem but then why others do not have it? So, I think os problem.
