I have a new Sony Vaio (bought in June) runs on Window's Vista - I installed Penumbra Overture. Once I start to play, the typing starts up and then it crashes. What can I do?

Do you have latest graphic drivers?

Also what version of Vista do you use?
Ultimate works fine here.

I have the same problem. The drivers are up to date. I have Vista Business 6.0 6000. That is the only one I will have. Will that keep me from playing?

I have problems with Vista Ultimate too. The game freezes when I press the ESC button. The patch is installed.

It might be hard for people to help out if you do not reply their questions.

As Vista is a new operating system its difficult to be certain all configurations will work as they did in XP. The quality assurance of Penumbra ran the game on 5-6 different configurations as far as I know and verfied the game working. It's impossible to tell if the problems with running the game in Vista is related to the game or to Vista itself.

I suggest making sure you have the latest drivers for you audio and graphics card.
Use the latest patch available from the support site.
Run the game with the default settings by deleting the settings.cfg file stored in My Documents/Penumbra Overture/Episode1
Try to lower the hardware acceleration setting for audio in windows, see support site for details. It's an article for XP but I assume its very similar in Vista.

When above is done, run the game and if it crashes go to My Documents/Penumbra Overture/Episode1 and take the hpl.log file located there and post/attach it here on the forum.

So that i got it right,

You can start the game and you can play the acutal game, as far as moving around in a level? But ones you want to go back from moving around in a level to the main menu you press ESC and then the game freezes?

Can you also go to Start menu -> Run... -> And enter dxdiag and in the program that starts save the information and attach the file here in this thread.
