Nothing is showing up

I have a dell intel laptop. I'm pretty sure it's a 32. I'm having problems with Amnesia: The Dark Decent, it's not that it wont run, it's just that when I play, all I can get is a black screen.
I've downloaded all the updates I could have found, but nothing has changed.
I can see the text, but no graphics. Daniel can talk, and I can see the text from when he's talking, but I can't see anything else and this happens from the opening screen onwards.
