I simply cannot get the power cable to plug in! HELP!

Upon arriving at the Auxilliary Shaft, I originally thought I was supposed to plug the power cable into the Power Cabinet and the Table. After about 30 minutes of effort, I decided there was NO WAY they would have made this so difficult, and gave up. I went about my business, left the area, but later found myself back here and trying again.

Eventually I gave up and checked a walkthrough which, indeed, confirmed I am supposed to plug the power cable into the two locations. HOW??? I cannot for the life of me get the plug into any sockets. Even if I manage to get one end hanging in there, when I try to do the other end, the first falls back out and to the floor.

Is there a trick to this I'm missing? There must be. PLEASE help me. I love this game, but this particular feat of dexterity has me baffled and annoyed!

I'm a desperate man!

Ahaa! I no longer need assistance, but in case anyone else ever runs into this problem, here's the deal: It DOES MATTER which side of the power cable is attached to which item! There I was with my sides reversed, so nothing would happen. I just took the power cable and turned it around, and viola', it snapped right into place.

Is there some symbol or hint that should have made that clear to me in the game?

I don't think so, you'll just have to put it correctly. I had a same problem when I was in that place, but I tried it in another way and it snapped in it's place. Smile

I'm at the same place, have them plugged, and nothing is happening. I was actually in this room before, plugged them in and left to get the gas and key, so maybe I bugged it out.
