Oil Conservation

Hey, everyone. I'm playing blindly through Amnesia for the first time (oh goody) and I'd like some tips on conserving lantern oil. I always seem to running low. Can anyone help me out? Thanks Smile

When you play a game such Amnesia you gather what you can of supplies, dont spend oil unless you need to.. If you see a corridor at the end of the hallway for example just lower the lantern and bring it up when you've reached the end...

I did run out aswell here and then, it's sometimes inevitable ^^

For the most part what I did was I stayed crouched for most of the game, making it harder for grunt's and brute's to see me, and traverse in the dark because your eyes do adjust to the dark, and I would pull out my lantern every now and again to get rid of the insanity effect of the darkness.

youtube some of the speedrunners - you'll find that oil and use of lantern is never actually necessary. If you need the light at a given moment, try tapping the lantern hotkey quickly. 'On' for a second, 'off' for the next 5 steps, 'on' for another second, etc.

Here's my simplest golden rule that will get you through Amnesia with a lot of oil: Only use oil when you can't see AKA when you absolutely have too. Don't pull it out just for comfort.

Besides that try to keep your lantern oil low. Don't dump all your oil cans in at once, because you never know when you'll find a stationary oil supply.

Those barrels with lantern oil refill according to how much you've used the lantern. If you've used a lot, they refill a lot, if not, then very little.
