Solved: 8 Years, 1 Month, 4 Weeks ago Using integrated instead of good 1?

I recently bought an Asus laptop with an integrated intel HD 4000 and Nvidia Geforce 630M. Every time I started the screen which comes before the game (the one where you choose play game, justine, settings etc) it always said "using Nvidia Geforce 630M" but when I updated my GeForce it started using my Intel HD instead. I tried to go back to old drivers for my Nvidia but it still says Intel HD. If I open Nvidia control center it says that it will automatically use my Nvidia, yet it doesn't (maybe it does in game but not here, how can I be sure?). Anyone got any ideas?

Also I'm running via steam.

Maybe try to force through the Nvidia Control Panel to use the Nvidia GPU?

Or try through Device Manager?

I'm not certain about this kind of issue. But something like this was posted some time ago.

Also, have you tried "booting" the Nvidia GPU through BIOS? I am not certain how this all works, but at least I'm trying to help.

download the Amnesia demo and run it. Then attach HPL.log found under Documents\Amnesia\Main folder to see what gpu is used for OpenGL rendering.

Go into your laptops BIOS and change VGA Controller from Reserved (presumably) to Win 7/Vista

Should enable your GPU to boot then =)

Yeah Asus has that option too - I had to change it on my BIOS to get my graphics card running too. Same problem this guy had

Mmm, very interesting. So I guess I have to change that:

Do you have an Nvidia or AMD/ATI graphics card? The above applies to AMD, I always though that nvidia automatically runs OpenGL games using Nvidia Optimus.

I have Nvidia. Yeah, I think once your BIOS boots the GPU it's all fine but for some reason when I bought the Asus laptop, the default settings prevent the GPU from booting...seems like a stupid default setting to me though xD
