I know, but I can't get the model to look at the .png or .tga, it only wants .jpg; what do I do?

Then you're doing something wrong. Models can work with .jpg, .png, .dds, and .tga.

I was trying the Penumbra Worm, as a test, but it seems it only wants jpg files. Now the Amnesia monsters are dds files, but I do not have a program to convert a file to .dds type. I tried putting the dds plugin for gimp but I must be doing something wrong. Any suggestions?

Just stick to .png for now. And you're going to have to change the image directory of the .dae file. Try following my tutorial.

Againt, as already mentioned you can't make something partially invisible using the alpha material.

Not on a solid diffuse material type.

It must be translucent.
