forums are different, as i can see the computer sitting in front of me, whirring its happy little head off, wich is how i cope in SP, i know those cars/people, aliens, cartoon crazies, etc, are controlled by that whirring little box with a disk in its tray/cartridge sticking out its top. and im fine, in MP. i know im against people, and i cant see them, and i freak out.

i thank you for your advice, but, i cannot heed it as i cannot cope in online multiplayer , it splits screen or single player only for me, and thats all genres i am afraid. FPS/MMS/Racing/Platform/beat em up/ etc.

also, please, Cod and co are a different genre to FPS, they are the MMS, Modern Military Shooter Genre, Serious Sam 3 is an FPS, thankyou. not nagging, just well, explaining, totalbiscuit will tell you the same Smile

Yes, I'm aware of your situation when it comes to multiplayer Smile What I'm saying is that, in my opinion, MMS should be judged by their multiplayer and not their single player unless it has been beveloped mainly as a single player experience.

I'm not so aware when it comes to the details of the different genres, with my schedule it's quite difficult to keep up with it and to be honest I don't really bother. But thanks for the heads up ^^
Just out off curiosity: if the modern military shooters are reffered to as MMS and not FPS, are the old WW2 CoD games reffered to as MMS too?

Ah, now i see!, thanks prelauncher, and good point, they do indeed seem to develop the Mp before anything else these days and just tack on SP as an afterthaught "tutorial"

Also, No problem . i like to try and help, i know i can be a real forum villain at times, but, i do try to keep people informed.

Yes, WW2 COD is seen as MMS By most People who use the term. I think a lot of the people who use the MMS term are, like me, pretty Elitist (i see no offence in it, hell, im even learning to speak L337, im not very good at it at the moment, but im trying).

To them, the Modern comes from the gameplay mechanics rather than the setting, you know, two gun limit, regenerating health, "BLOODY SCREEN! So...Real..." (duty calls... lols..), waypoints, controll hints, lots of hand holding, Massive scripting, "Micheal Bay" direction, A.D.S, Explanding crosshairs (both of wich are actually highly unrealistic as soldiers are trained to fire, accuratly, from the shoulder, while moving, it's called "point shooting", and the sites are shown as one eye open, wich is not used by trained soldiers, you only use "one eye" on a sniper rifle, you use both open on any other gun or the enemy will blindside and kill you, you only shoot down sights one eyed if you are a rookie on a target range, sorry, dad's an ex sergeant major, so heh...) Squads (even MOHAA ranks as MMS to some leet as it has squads, i rank it as FPS with squad levels, wich it is, but, hey, there are people even more elistist than me out there), Strong Military/Warfare theme, Etc, all the hallmarks of the "modern console biased shooter". To some elitists, Myself Included, even something like "Bulletstorm" is an MMS as well as it meets most of those requirments, albiet it being a HALO clone rather than than a COD clone. it describes gameplay more than setting to most people.

i quess everyone has a different interpretation of the Modern Military Shooter, for some its a setting (russia/middle east, C21, american army), to others, its a gameplay style, (i subscribe to the beleife it being a gameplay format). i quess that we'll always have that issue until it becomes a dictionary term..heres hoping!

Hope that clears it up mate Smile
