stuck at mining machine

how did i open gasoline can lid?
please help i cant fill gas can of mining machine up since gas can lid was rusted how can i get it open

hit it with the hammer

Go into your inventory by pressing [tab]. Drag the hammer with the left mouse button and drop it on top of the red gasoline tank witch you should have in your inventory. If you dont, you need to go back and find it.
