Hello, I'm an old Amnesia player.
I had bought Amnesia two months after the release and played it on this very laptop I'm using right now.
Apart from some graphic bug I had with the radial blur it all worked fine.

Now I reinstalled Amnesia but it won't start, how can this be?
I've checked the drivers and they are the latest ones for my graphic card: Radeon Mobility 3400 series
What has changed since the last time I played it is the OS,in fact I had Windows 7 before and now Windows 8.

I tried to erase the main config file and restarted the pc,lowered the resolution and played but it's not working.
I tried windows mode but won't work.
I tried lowest settings but nothing changed.
What can I do? Please help

I reinstalled Penumbra Overture and it says my video card doesn't support vertex shaders which is ridiculous because last time I played this game was on this pc.
Is there anything I can do?

As far as I know, Windows 8 doesn't support many games today. Even Maya 2011 isn't supported. Even my Internet adapter isn't. The only reason I avoid W8.

That is completely inaccurate and wrong.

Now for the issue, most probably your graphics card drivers are not properly installed or corrupted. Make sure you reinstall them.

I reinstalled the latest graphic drivers for my laptop today, but it seems that the only way to make Amnesia and Penumbra work is to use older drivers
Is there a way to play them with the latest graphic drivers?

Also, sorry for the title, I didn't mean to call it that way

If that is the case then it's a problem with the latest AMD drivers. AMD is not really known for it's good drivers for older products. The game has no problem with any drivers as long as they work properly after a correct installation.

So this means the only way to play Frictional Games's games is to use the older ones?

I don't know what could be wrong with AMD's drivers. If the latest ones have problems then all OpenGL games will be affected. It doesn't have to do with these games from FG.

I still believe though that your drivers are corrupted or you are downloading the wrong thing. You are installing the legacy 13.1 catalyst I presume, right? This is the correct one.

I used the update button from the graphic card's menu

No,no. Download the latest driver from AMD and try a clean installation.
