magic with hpl2 engine

Used hpl2 for a scene in my demoreel to see how much i could push the engine. Must say Im pretty impressed Smile
U guys can do some really neat things with this. Might be a total conversion if I get some time in sweden.

Awesome stuff! I must ask though, did you use decals with cubemaps to make the reflective water on the ground? I'm curious as to how you did them as I was planning to do such a thing myself.

Actually what i did was just using a reflectionmask with very strong reflection where the waterpile is and made sure the normalmap was "blank " ie flat around thoose area (you can use a little downwards bevel aswell if u wanna give the impression its a gap)
For the heavy rain i used quite an interesting techniqe with animated textures in the specular channel .. the following techniques:

The engine is amizingly powerful if u use it right.

Some cool tricks! The engine IS quite capable of interesting things when you think outside of the box. I made a hologram effect on a model once and it was so much fun to come up with. I still can't get over your rain design, a great effect for an engine that wasn't necessarily designed for it. I hope you don't mind me taking in some inspiration from this. =]
