The materials needed to be generated using the material editor. You can generate them using the model editor by pressing the plus next to material, but that is the material editor that opens up. The materials look great in the editor but something is wrong. It doesn't work when i press the gears, it doesn't show up, or in the map editor.

Don't generate them with the model editor, do as I said and create them yourself using the material editor.

That's what I did. What I said about the model editor was to answer to "The Mug". I actually opened an amnesia material from an enemy and changed the diffuse, normals and spec maps to mine and then saved the files in the same folder as my dds and ent files were. The parts of my model don't have the same name as the materials because each part has names given from 3ds max that don't make sense. I'll try it now, to change the mat names to match the names of the parts. The model looks great when i'm in the model editor and i have all the materials attached to the parts. But the model doesn't appear when I press the gears.

It doesn't work. I tried to rename the dds to match the name of each part but still nothing.

Well. I tried everything. I'm completely frustrated. Here's the link. If anyone can fix it be my guest, just notify me first.

I couldn't merge those without losing the UVs. Then the normals and diffuse will not work. That's my first mesh. I just need to learn the process.

If I merge them in 3DS max wouldn't I need to make new UVs then? The diffuse maps will be useless then. I would need to make new.

Your UV's will remain, you can just move the shells around to make a proper UV, you will have to make new textures though, but the way your model is made right now it's just useless.
