RE: My thoughts and questions that I would really like to share.

I can understand people being angry that the trailer scenes aren't in the game. This game is clearly a story-only game, but do you get the feeling from watching the trailers? Nope. Apparently they knew it would sell better if player thought it's about an insane pig slaughterer following you and you have to hide from it.
If people had expected a game like Dear Esther, they would probably have been much less disappointed.

I can't say I can agree with anything you said to be honest; your review is kind of lacking in maturity and it just seems you expected to have the same encounters as you saw in the trailer - I don't know why that matters - but each to their own. The game is an experimental game, it isn't a direct sequel to TDD and I think this different approach to psychological horror was quite nicely done.

Some people (like me) prefer to have a good story line that can provoke thoughts, rather than have everything there on display, Dear Esther I thought was brilliant, if I want to get myself lost in the story of a game for a bit of escapism I think Dear Esther did that well and the same for AAMFP but it's not for everyone; however, if you don't like something I don't particularly think it's right to say that it is 'gay' perhaps it's better to say that it's not your cup of tea?

No one want to take me serious just because i used word "gay" in post. I never thought Frictional games community is so rigid Huh
Man, where did I wrote that I expected to have the same encounters like in the trailer ? Where ? Did you read my previous post ? I wrote: " I understand in 100% fact that they dont want us to know what is going to happen and they are modifying locations for trailers" In my opinion AMFP is simply worse than previous title in every aspect. Story isnt better (its not bad but very predictable and not especially original), game doesn't have puzzles and there are only 2 ENCOUNTERS WITH MONSTERS. I understand that for you the game is better and thats ok, I also think that it isnt as bad at all but still not as fun as previous title.
By this topic i wanted only to share my thoughts with other and see is there anyone else who can agree.

PS: I understand that game can be focused on story telling, but story in AMFP isn special at all. And how does the story telling look like ? You are finding notes about what happened earlier and you are getting flashbacks/phones as you progress through game, totally nothing new, it was allready in TDD.

Are you sure we played the same game? I am definitely sure there are at least three times that amount of encounters.

If you count the monsters that aren't directly hostile to you, that's another x3.

A few of us can't take you seriously cause you use stilted humor and type like a 12 year old.

I understand it when people whose first language isn't english to have slightly odd phrasing and whatnot, but you seem perfectly capable of typing well, you just don't give a toss.

Deer Esther?

Really now.

If your first language isn't english then avoid ''humor'' and focus on structuring a better sentence. Cause really.

I mean places that you need to hide from monsters, places where enemies are patrolling area. There were only 2 i guess, under church and soon after where you had to kindle stove. Ofcourse monsters appeared several times but only cinematic or they were spawned to chase you.

Even with that limitation applied, there is still assuredly more than two encounters.

I really like to hear that I know english well Big Grin But it's not my first language. I help myself with dictionary by using translator Wink. Still, I really dont see a problem with my first post, it was a little bit agressive but nothing more Wink

RE: My thoughts and questions that I would really like to share.

I agree with you. The game was boring and not scary. I'm confused as to why it gets praised for it's not so special story so much. If you want a great story read a book. I feel a game is a relatively inappropriate place to look for that, because then dev like TCR can almost get away with putting NO effort into gameplay and say "well we made a good story".

I find it to be in poor taste to take a game that would have so much expectation and take away everything (most) ppl liked about it, only to make it more like one of your games.

Even as a separate non amnesia game this game would not fascinate me. I find psychological horror not scary, just artistic and a little creepy. I'm too messed up in the head to be scared by such things.

I found the atmosphere pointless because of the lack of threat(what is the point of a creepy atmosphere is there isn't really any danger).

Maybe I'm just looking at this through the wrong perspective, I was expecting it to be a violent horror suspense/chase oriented game like the first. I would say shame on me, but given the trailers and being associated with amensia, is it hard to believe I would think that?

I find the trailer misleading, sure they may not want ppl to expect things, sure. But then don't put something like that in the trailer. I don't find that a good excuse. It's like having a trailer is where there us a maze part and then removing it saying "we didn't want you to see it coming".

It's bait and switch no matter the reason. TCR just wanted show what they can(can't) do by riding on amnesia's fame. Which is TACKY!!!

The game is intended for mature audiences and you give such a puerile review, how can such a review be taken seriously?

"WHERE IS THE CAGE SECTION FROM THE TRAILER ???" This is what I was referring to, it just seems like a pointless thing to concern yourself over. In what way was the game unoriginal? it's not worse than TDD, it's a different game and I don't think it has anything to do with being better or worse, you either like it or you don't but just because you don't like it doesn't mean that it's a bad game. Again, it seems you miss the point and endlessly compare TDD to AMFP and they're both different games with different ideas. Only two monster encounters, well why does that matter? The game is not about running from monsters, simple puzzles? The game isn't about solving puzzles to the most part.

I don't think the game is better than TDD, it's different and I like change, why would I want the exact same game as TDD?

I'm interested to know what aspects of the story weren't special to you? Was it unoriginal because you found notes in the previous game? Was it because you had phone calls? Personally I don't think it matters how the story is delivered, as long as I can lose myself in it and enjoy it.

If you don't like the game that's fine, like I said: it doesn't mean it's a bad game if you don't like it.
